Thursday, April 10, 2014

7:15 – 8:00 AM Breakfast – Royal Garden Terrace

8:00 – 10:00 AM “The Damaging Effects of Crisis and How Proactive Communications Can Help to Combat Legal Action, Revenue Decline, The National News Spotlight”
Mary Butin, Founder and CEO, The Butin Group, an award-winning marketing communications agency

Companies learn about the importance of effective communications and the pain of crisis management, often after it is too late. In today’s world of near instant global communication, it’s more important than ever to establish protocols and anticipate solutions to protect an organization’s reputation and success.

Damaging situations can be tempered and possibly even avoided if companies understand their risks, monitor their actions and proactively plan for unforeseen issues. Crisis communications plans, social media protocols, and reputation management strategies are just a few of the important tools necessary to effectively weather a crisis.

This session will focus on best practices for response during today’s instantaneous and social news cycle. We will learn from mistakes others have made, and will discuss tips for managing stress that naturally results from these situations, which can undermine even the most effective communicators.

10:00 – 10:30 AM Morning Break

10:30 – 12:00 noon “Integrating in a Rapidly Changing Environment”
Joan Eliasek, SVP, Product Strategy and Supplier Partnerships, McKesson MedicalSurgical Inc.
The session will cover recent trends in alternate site medical distribution and the impact of the Affordable Care Act on provider needs and expectations. In addition, the session will provide an update on the integration of McKesson Medical-Surgical and PSS World Medical, including the opportunities that have been identified through the integration, the challenges of bringing two established, national distributors together and the changing ways in which the new distributor will work with customers and suppliers.
