1:00 – 5:00 PM “HMMC Executive Education Workshop”
Course Description: Scenario-Based, Strategic Decision Making
Michael Marks, the Managing Partner of Indian River Consulting Group
This 4-hour, intensive workshop will rely on scenarios and the case method to help industry executives understand and manage the forces driving change for healthcare manufacturers.

The core of this session is a hypothetical case study that will encourage discussions, engaging all attendees. Based on a future scenario, Mike will create a window into where our industry could be in ten years. This will ignite a series of discussions around:

• How will physician practice consolidation affect decision-making, product selection, and drives for standardization?
• How will IDNs affect the future viability of GPOs?
• How will private label products grow and play out in med-surg distributors?
• What is the long term healthcare reform risk to key players in healthcare?

The purpose of these discussions is to help determine how firms can position themselves today, so the forces of change become a wind at their back instead of a wind in their face. Significant preparation is being invested to maximize the impact of this session. There are no silver bullets or easy answers. Participants will be required to think critically in uncertain conditions, much like today’s daily world. The model developed is intended for participants to apply directly into their own firms.

Don’t miss this session. There will be many intelligent executives discussing issues critically important in the future. It will be exciting and fun, but will likely be unsettling as well. In times of rapid change, executives must look at markets as they really are, versus what they historically have been, in order to create shareholder value.
