My presentation will describe the new philosophy that the American Association for Long Term Care Nursing holds in being an inclusive organization versus the typical exclusive club organization. I will discuss the importance in creating community among caregivers, health care providers and health care associations toward the common goal of quality care. Lastly, I will share marketing and education strategies to reach nursing decision makers and influencers with the message health care manufacturers want to communicate about their products and services. The days of health care providers and manufacturers supporting initiatives with a hope of reaching key decision makers must change to educating nurses to make the best informed decision on products and services.

The presentation will review current trends in the patient population, the choices in post acute care, initiatives driven by employee, census and payment crunches and CMS (Five Star, Special Focus Facilities).
